Mental Health Program

Mental Health Program

At the 2015 State Conference in St. George, the delegates unanimously approved the FOP Mental Health Program to be administered through the Utah FOP Foundation.

If you are struggling with PTSD or other emotional trauma or issues, you are in need of professional help. Many times, seeking that help can be troublesome for many reasons, mostly trust. If you are an FOP member in Utah, the Utah FOP Foundation will pay for your first two visits to a participating provider as long as the Foundation has the funds to do so. In order to be a provider, they must be a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor with a history of working with cops. This is not an EAP through your work but they will take most insurance plans.

** Even though the FOP will cover your first 2 visits, an expectation of being "issue free" after just 2 visits is unrealistic. We offer this service to assist our members in getting through the door and beginning the journey to a better life and better career. Providers on our plan accept multiple insurances. Check with the provider for coverage options after your 2 visits on us. Currently, this program provides only a one time option for services. A member may not visit multiple providers under this plan.

Spring Creek Wellness - Farmington

My name is Glen Porter and I am a master’s level mental health therapist (ACMHC).  I retired from law enforcement after 26 years, which includes working for the Dallas Police Department and the Utah Highway Patrol. I am also currently a First Sergeant in the Air National Guard with 18 years of military service. My experience helps provide understanding and perspective for the stressors that are unique to first responders.

Sometimes it becomes necessary to learn new skills and process difficult events when they negatively affect our work and personal lives. If you find your personal life isn’t heading in the direction you had anticipated or desired, I can help you navigate through these challenges. I provide a safe and confidential setting and personally relate to first responders.
